We sing it every Christmas: “Veiled in flesh the Godhead see/ Hail the incarnate Deity/ Pleased as man with men to dwell/ Jesus, our Emmanuel.” If that doesn’t thrill us and ignite in our hearts deep joy and comfort and wonder and awe and peace, it’s because we’re spiritually sleepy. And so we need to wake up, repent, and pray for spiritual eyes to see the old, familiar truth of Christmas in a fresh way. God became man. That is the most astounding event in human history. Please join us as we consider the wonder of the Incarnation. May the Spirit awaken us again to the wonder of the majesty that God became one of us to rescue us. And may it make our heart cry: “Hail the incarnate Deity”!
